Learning To Play Piano From Scratch

by admin on April 14, 2010

I’ve decided to have some form of Piano Tutorial to learn the piano.  My new years resolution was to learn the piano but so far progress has been slow.

In the last three months all I have done is read cheap guides from music stores but other than giving me the total basics they are not really helping me. Going much beyond knowing the basic keys and what the middle C is and I’m stumped.

So in a quest for piano playing perfection I’ve decided to take drastic action.

Piano Tutorial Site

The first part of the plan is to set up this piano tutorials site as a means of pushing myself.  If I write about my progress I’m pretty sure it will motivate me to stick with my piano practice.

I also want this piano tutorials site to inspire others.

The second part of piano mastery plan is to try every form of piano tutorial until I find one that suits me.

So I’m going to try:

  • Home based Piano Lessons
  • Home Study Piano Tutorials trying to learn straight from a book
  • Learning piano online with one of the many programs out there.

I figure if I try all of these one of them has to suit me… well hopefully otherwise I really am stuck.

Once I am half way decent I promise to take a video of me playing and post it on the site.  I hope to be able to play some classic Beatles tracks, The Entertainer (the music from The Sting) and some more modern pop tunes.  At the moment it all seems a long way away, but I’ll stick with it, I promise!

In the meantime I’m going to post a few inspiring videos of other people to keep us all motivated.

If you have gone through a similar experience email me with your story and I’ll post it on the site.

Hopefully catch up soon.
